The Master of Arts in History emphasizes the development of analytical research skills necessary for studying the past.

The curriculum focuses on the comprehension and appraisal of historiographical perspectives and debates, the methodologies and practices of research in primary sources, and the development of skills necessary for the interpretation of the past for a public audience.

The European and World History concentration enriches students’ experiences with in-depth study of the histories of regions and cultures beyond the United States. It provides students with broad comparative contexts for understanding local and global histories, and helps students interpret the past through transnational, intercultural perspectives.
