About Master of Science - Finance

University of La Verne’s Master of Science in Finance prepares students for successful careers in finance with a broad understanding of financial economics and the ability to solve complex problems and develop strategies to guide the financial health of a company or organization.

Students in the MS Finance program graduate with valuable skills and knowledge they can immediately apply to real-world problems and career opportunities, including how to:
  • analyze and develop complex financial models to achieve corporate goals;
  • manage long-term capital budgets and short-term working capital expenditures;
  • understand global financial management practices;
  • comprehend US Securities and Exchange Commission regulations and US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP);
  • apply finance and accounting principles to complex financial challenges.

Entry into the MS Finance program requires the applicant holds a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university.

The MS in Finance requires completion of eight core courses and two electives for a total of 10 courses (30 units). Some students may be required to complete up to six foundation courses—the program director will review each applicant’s undergraduate coursework and professional experience to determine if foundation courses are necessary.
