The full-time BSc Accounting with Finance course is delivered in an interactive way with a real world focus; face-to-face learning is supported by online resources, including the Financial Times, case studies, simulations, learning videos, reading materials, online testing and feedback.

The Accounting with Finance degree is ideal for those interested in a future professional career in accounting, finance, audit and taxation, and acts as a foundation for further study in accounting or finance at postgraduate or professional level. This undergraduate Accounting with Finance programme focuses on modern accountancy concentrating on teamwork, real-world case studies and developing strategy from financial data.

During the first year, students will develop a solid understanding of the fundamentals of accounting and finance. Years two and three will explore how organisations use accounting and finance practices to make sensible predictions and sound business decisions in an ever-changing business landscape.

As part of the curriculum, in addition to accounting and finance knowledge, students will also develop the skills demanded by today’s business employer including critical analysis, leadership, team working, communication and presentation skills.

Recognised by the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), successful completion of this undergraduate degree will exempt you from 9 of the 13 ACCA exams, accelerating career ambitions of becoming a chartered accountant.

Students will undertake a Placement Year working for an employer. With the supervision and support of academics, a Placement Year gives students the chance to gain real world experience, develop leadership skills, and take a significant first step into the highly competitive business world.

Students will take an additional Foundation Year before they start this course. This introductory year focuses on developing the key skills required to study at degree level and covers the same modules across all business and law courses. The modules covered will initially enhance communications skills, digital and information literacy and ability to think critically. In addition, modules covering the Foundations of Business Management, Law, and Social Sciences will not only support progression onto their business degree, but also give students an introduction to other disciplines. Students then have the added flexibility of switching their degree programme if another discipline captures their interest, subject to availability and entry requirements.
