About Bachelor of Business Administration - Accounting (Optional Co-op)
Accounting is the language of business. It tells people if they are winning or losing – exploding or imploding. Accounting is the language they need to succeed.
Students will acquire this language through UNB’s Accounting programs by learning how to record, interpret, and report economic data. Once students master this language, they will have the answer to key questions: Is a company succeeding or failing? Is it using its resources effectively? What changes should be implemented? What does its future look like?
A honours in accounting includes the courses needed to qualify for the professional level education program, which is required to become a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA). There is also a concentration in accounting.
Students will learn from top-notch instructors recognized nationally and internationally for teaching and research. The small class sizes mean greater interaction between students, their instructors, and their peers.
Hands-on learning:
- Co-operative (Co-op) education program consisting of a minimum of three four-month work terms. Accredited by the Canadian Association for Co-operative Education.
- Accounting internship
- Coursework requiring real-life business challenges
Skills students will acquire:
- Read balance sheets and analyze financial statements
- Understand Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
- Apply accounting principles and standards
- Prepare and manage budgets
- Determine the costs of products for financial statements
*The Faculty of Management at the University of New Brunswick Fredericton is AACSB Accredited. AACSB accreditation is known worldwide as the longest-standing, most recognized form of specialized accreditation that an institution and its business programs can earn.
