Bachelor of Music - Music Education - Instrumental/General Teaching

The University of Northern Iowa’s School of Music is widely regarded as one of the finest music programs in the Midwest and is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music. Combined with internationally-renowned teacher education program, the music teaching major at the University of Northern Iowa more than prepares students for a successful teaching career and provides licensure in music for grades K-6 and 7-12.

Students in the music education program may choose between three different areas of emphasis: choral/general, instrumental/general or jazz/general.

Music education graduates will be well-versed in musical history and theory, aural training, sight-singing, and more, in addition to taking part in excellent teacher preparation courses.

With expert faculty, three different field experiences, and a full semester of student teaching, graduates are well prepared for starting their professional careers.
