Program Description
Foundation Studies Program (Standard) - Life Science (X0F:4) (0100808):
The Foundation Studies program is a direct academic pathway to first-year undergraduate degree study, or an equivalent. The program acts as a bridging course for international students who wish to study a university undergraduate degree course but who don’t yet meet academic requirements and/or have the English language skills for tertiary study.
To successfully complete the program, students must achieve a 50% pass in all units, including English.
Upon successful completion of the course, graduates can enter one of the University of Tasmania’s undergraduate degree courses.
Bachelor of Information and Communication Technology and Bachelor of Science - Ocean Conservation and Industries (93H):
The double degree allows students to deepen their knowledge and expertise within two separate study areas. This means students can choose from University of Tasmania’s range of exciting, diverse courses and they can embark on a journey as unique as they are.
The University of Tasmania’s science degree provides students with a foundation of core skills in science, analysis, and rational thinking. They have options to focus their studies in one or more scientific disciplines and learn the methods to apply their skills and knowledge to the practical needs of industry, business, and government in both scientific and non-scientific roles.
The BICT is a specialist degree with both a theoretical and practical focus. It develops technological understanding and skills that are in high demand world-wide, plus builds project management and other business soft-skills that make students an ICT professional.
Students can Immerse themselves in the marine environment using remotely operate autonomous underwater vehicles to plan and manage ocean use across a range of rapidly developing industries. Students will learn about oceans, managing challenges at sea and measuring impact in diverse marine environments to shape future management and research in aquaculture, fisheries and ocean industries. Integrate the latest technology and data skills to responsibly develop the future blue economy. Students will also learn alongside industry employers, experience unique field camps and network with global experts in the Blue Economy CRC. Students will build their career path with dual majors in Sustainable Aquaculture, Marine Biology, Geography and Maritime Studies and beyond.
Students also gen an opportunity to learn about Sustainable Marine Food Production, Marine Resource Management and Conservation, Resilience in the Face of Emergencies, Marine Protected Area Management, Remotely Operated and Autonomous Vehicle Technologies.
