About Bachelor of Science - Community and International Development
The Community and International Development (CID) major offers students a structured opportunity to jump into the world and make a difference. Backed by rigorous coursework and experienced faculty oversight, students put ideas into action on the ground here in Vermont or all over the world. What they find, is, that real world issues are more complex than they usually seem. There are underlying social, economic, and cultural factors that can hinder development or be an asset to it.
Over the past decade, students and faculty members within CDAE have also nurtured relationships with communities in Belize, Peru, Honduras, Kenya, Puerto Rico, Nepal, and St. Lucia. CID students partner with organizations in these experiences to address the development issues facing local communities through carefully designed service-learning courses and faculty-led trips at home and abroad.
