About Bachelor of Arts in Computer Science - Computer Science
Program Description
Florida Atlantic University's (FAU) Bachelor of Arts in Computer Science (B.A.C.S.) with a major in Computer Science is intended for students interested in software development. The program prepares students for a career in the field of Computer Science with focus on software development.
The B.A. in Computer Science is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges, but unlike FAU's B.S. in Computer Science, it is not accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET.
The major difference in math/science requirements between Bachelor of Science in Computer Science (BSCS) and Bachelor of Arts in Computer Science (BACS) is that BSCS requires students to take higher level math and science courses. On the other hand, the students in the BACS program take general education level math and science courses. Furthermore, BSCS covers all aspects of computing, including theoretical foundations, software and systems, and BACS focuses more on software development.
