The 2-Semester Pathway - Undergraduate Foundation Programme - Humanities and Social Sciences is a one-year programme offers successful students guaranteed progression to Loughborough University. This programme is designed to prepare international students, who have completed senior secondary education, for entry to undergraduate studies at the university.

The International Foundation Programme is set at level 3, which is equivalent to A-level standard in the United Kingdom. The two semester programme lasts one academic year [nine months]. Each semester includes, on average, 13 teaching weeks, one reading week and one assessment week. On average, students will undertake 21 (and up to 25) hours of classroom-based study per week. This programme includes English and three academic subject modules. English will be integrated into the teaching of academic subjects, as well as being taught separately if they need additional support to develop their English language. They will be assessed at regular intervals throughout the programme to ensure they are making the progress required to successfully complete the programme. Full assessment of the programme will take place in the final semester. Assessment methodologies are aligned to those that will be experienced in the University environment, and include project work, essays, and presentations.

The curriculum of Bachelor of Arts (Honours) - English offers students the freedom to construct a course covering literature and language within a broad range of fields and approaches, providing a stimulating environment for their academic work. The modules that are offer on the English course grow out of the current research interests and publications of the academic staff, making it possible for them to study the latest thinking in areas as diverse as the staging of Shakespeare, film studies, Victorian literature, contemporary writing, and American literature and culture. There are also modules in creative writing, with tuition across the discipline, and the option to respond creatively to literary texts on other modules.
