The 2-Semester Pathway - Undergraduate Foundation Programme - Humanities and Social Sciences is a one-year programme offers successful students guaranteed progression to Loughborough University. This programme is designed to prepare international students, who have completed senior secondary education, for entry to undergraduate studies at the university.

The International Foundation Programme is set at level 3, which is equivalent to A-level standard in the United Kingdom. The two semester programme lasts one academic year [nine months]. Each semester includes, on average, 13 teaching weeks, one reading week and one assessment week. On average, students will undertake 21 (and up to 25) hours of classroom-based study per week. This programme includes English and three academic subject modules. English will be integrated into the teaching of academic subjects, as well as being taught separately if they need additional support to develop their English language. They will be assessed at regular intervals throughout the programme to ensure they are making the progress required to successfully complete the programme. Full assessment of the programme will take place in the final semester. Assessment methodologies are aligned to those that will be experienced in the University environment, and include project work, essays, and presentations.

During students' studies on this Bachelor of Arts (Honours) - English and Sport Science course, they will spend equal amounts of time studying both English and Sport Science – which makes it the perfect choice for those who have an interest in both of these subject areas. Whilst each discipline has its distinctive subjects and approaches, they will also discover productive connections and overlaps between them. The English component of degree allows them to explore literature and language within a broad range of fields and approaches, providing a stimulating environment for their studies. The sport science element of this degree covers physiology, physical activity and health, psychology, sociology and sport pedagogy, which support a variety of potential careers in sport, health and/or education.
