Bachelor of Science (Honours) - Mathematics and Physics

Mathematics and physics are often interlinked, and as such are a natural combination to study together. Students will gain a strong grounding in maths, so that they can understand the basic concepts of physics.

Students will study both pure and application-driven mathematics. By the time they finish their degree, students will be able to use maths to solve practical problems. Computers are used extensively in modern maths and Dundee will introduce them to various mathematical software preparing them for industry.

At the same time, students will develop a deep understanding of physics, from astronomical phenomena to quantum mechanics. As the course progresses, they'll increase their knowledge in classical physics as well as advancements in modern physics.

Much of what students will learn will relate to research that Dundee's staff carry out. This includes topics such as biophysics, advanced materials, photonics, numerical analysis, and applications of maths and physics to challenging problems in biology and medicine.
